Mr. Durkin is one of the most prominent trial attorneys in the State of New Jersey, having represented clients in major cases since 1952. He has tried many cases to verdict. He has represented clients in appellate proceedings, many of which resulted in reported decisions.

He has had a distinguished career in private practice for over 50 years. The law firm of Durkin & Durkin, LLP, which he founded, was based in Newark from 1953 until moving to West Caldwell in 1997. His expertise is in labor law and federal criminal defense litigation. He has a reputation as a tenacious litigator and has argued countless cases, including appearing before the United States Supreme Court.

He is active in civic community and church affairs. Pope John Paul, II conferred the Order of Saint Gregory the Great upon him in recognition of his contributions to the Church. He has served in the New Jersey State Assembly. He also served in the Navy during World War II and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
